This former coal-mining town is the northernmost town in the Borough of Broxtowe and is probably best known as the birthplace of DH Lawrence. Many of Lawrence's most famous works were set in or inspired by the town and its surrounds, while his family's former home in Victoria Street, has been converted to a museum dedicated to the author.
